Camera Equipment I Use

How I Started

When I first started photography, I actually didn’t get into photography first. I was actually into making videos, and making sick videos on like apps on my phone. I would make videos of my brothers on our mini hoop of them doing like “between the legs” and add sick music to it and make sick transitions to it. I would have ideas of doing things around town and about are town that would come to mind. So I would go outside and just create it. Then my parents would post them on Facebook and like I would get like 30 likes. I didn’t really care about how many likes or how many people watched it. I only cared about the moment when I was making the video, I was walking around town getting content. It was just fun seeing new ideas pop in my head and I could just see it in my head, and then on the editing side I would put cringy pop ups and it was just fun making those videos. That was around 7th grade when I was interested in doing that.

The next year when I was in 8th grade, and this was the time I was wanting to be a photographer. There was this shot that I wanted to get. It was an old rusted truck, it was really cool driving past it during the summer and seeing it in the sunset. So one summer day I decided to go down there with my dad and get a picture of this old rusted truck. But at this time I didn’t have a really nice phone or like the Iphone XR or Iphone 11. I had the Iphone 8 plus, it was my Dad’s old phone. That was the camera I was using to take a picture of this truck. So this phone camera didn’t have any new features or good features. It was just an Iphone 8 plus. I would say at this time 2023, that was a trashy phone. So I still decided to take the picture, that was my first ever picture taken. That picture is now one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken. I have a canvas of that picture hung up in my office at work. I was just surprised of how I did that with a Iphone 8 plus, my mind just blew up. So at that day I decided that I wanted to get into photography.

About 2 years later 2022, is when I first started using an actual camera. I started taking sports photography. I started off with basketball because it was around that time. The camera I started with was a Canon rebel with lenses of 18- 55. So the lenses weren’t close up it wasn’t a great camera to start off, but it was more for me to start actually feeling what the buttons of a canon camera was like. 3 months later I started using a really good camera, I really liked it. It was a Canon EOS 70D. The rest of the basketball season was a great year for photography. The pictures were good and great quality. So around February and March, I decided to make a business of doing sports photography. I started the beginning of March and decided to make a website and making an actual business and asking people to pay for pictures. Instead of them having them for free. So I made a website, It’s a really good website in my opinion. The first client I had two people, one was for track, and the other was for just throwing a football around. So I charge $15 for each client, but that day I got $40. I was so excited for this business, then the next few weeks each client just was coming and coming. I would have some people just come multiple times asking me to take pictures. It was an awesome experience. I ended off with 5 times more than of what I started off in money. 

That summer, I got to get into more things, I did photography for this concert/ Lyric battle at a college, I also got to take senior pictures which was fun but hard because it was my first time, I also got to make a short film that was super fun. I got to have a lot of new experiences that summer. 2023 fall season will be my first time to do these sports for photography. I’m ready to start a new journey for myself and achieve higher goals for this school year.
